Hammond Report July 22 2020 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - daily Music and Stories from organist accordionist Jon Hammond, today's story and music about my 1959 Hammond B3 organ with duo session jazz standards with jazz guitarist Bill Wurtzel just before I went in to Pandemic Quarantino - Bill was introduced to me by Andy Christo Vice President of Royal Olympic Cruises who I met while on assignment in Port Everglades FL at the inauguration of the Royal Olympic Voyager, the world's fastest cruise ship 20 years ago. Hammond Report July 21 2020 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - daily Music and Stories from organist & accordionist Jon Hammond, today's story about 'miracle gig' returning to the Birdland Hamburg after 7 years, I got there real early when the owner Hr. Dieter Reichert opened up. When I set up my organ, to my horror my EXP-100A Expression Pedal was not working, yikes, essential component of Hammond organ for expression! I tried everything with the cable and resetting organ, nothing worked. Showtime was 21:00 (9PM) the doors open up and everybody files in - full club. Bingo! the pedal started working, and worked throughout the rest of the night. After that it never worked again - the expression pedal was dead ever after this gig - beautiful tenor playing from my greatly missed friend Lutz Büchner, with Heinz Lichius drums, Ed Harris guitar and yours truly Jon Hammond at the XB-2 Hammond organ "BBQ Lily" one of my originals.
I'll be back with another Hammond Report tomorrow folks on 22nd of July! Be careful out there, wear your masks in public everybody,

Hammond Report July 19 2020 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Music and Stories from organist & accordionist Jon Hammond daily episode today story taking up where I left off yesterday in Hamburg, Germany with my group performing a piece in tribute to Cannonball Adderly quintet who I had seen on Feb. 23rd of 1968 at the Winterland Auditorium in San Francisco CA, triple bill with The Who, The Vagrants with Leslie West and Cannonball Adderly's combo, we capture the Spirit here with one of my finest groups with my very dear friend Lutz Büchner on tenor, we lost Lutz way too young (47) so this is very precious - Fiete Felsch on the front line playing alto with Lutz, Michael Leuschner trumpet, Heinz Lichius drums, Joe Berger guitar and yours truly Jon Hammond at the Sk1 Hammond organ - today's segment I put together just 2 days after the very sad passing of Civil Rights Leader John Lewis, I reflect on his passing as we are 4 months in to the pandemic now and a very tough fight ahead as we fight to get back to normalcy - it is extremely important to mask-up until the virus is under control, and make sure to vote in massive numbers however it has to be done folks!
