Hammond Report January 29 2022 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Daily Music and Stories from the organ player & accordionist Jon Hammond, today's music story is about sitting in with legendary pianist / musical director Frank Owens, actual piano / accordion recording of the session at Cobi's Open Mic, Nobuko Cobi Narita and Frank Owens longtime friends / collaborators - this was when Cobi's weekly sessions were at Saul Zebulon Rubin's loft called 'Zeb's' in NYC. I'm playing Excelsior Accordions now, my original beautiful Giulietti Classic 127 accordion was stolen right out of my apartment in Boston, I went 27 years without having an accordion before I got my Excelsior. I am still looking for the Giulietti, it's a small world in Accordion World, serial number 14258 - contact me 24/7 if sighted, no questions asked and reward for sure! It was last sighted in Chicago, but the man who saw it fell out of contact.
Frank Owens has played with everybody, from Louis Armstrong, Sonny Stitt, Ruth Brown, Petula Clark, to music director for the first David Letterman Show, Chubby Checker, even John Denver and Astrud Gilberto! Longtime pianist at the Apollo "It's Showtime at the Apollo" - here you have it for Saturday 29th of January 2022, have a beautiful Saturday folks, I'll be back tomorrow,
