Jon Hammond brought his band in to the SAVOY LOUNGE on 41st St. across from Port Authority Bus Terminal and next to Carroll Music Instrument Rental & Studios where all the cats rehearsed: On tenor sax Todd Anderson, Joris Dudli on drums, Barry Finnerty guitar and Jon Hammond at the B3 organ playing some of Jon Hammond's classic Funk Soul compositions 'Head Phone' and end of 'Nu Funk ('Hip Hop Chitlins'). I met Oliver Groenewald in Hamburg when he was playing trumpet on the pit band for HAIR. The cats used to come over after-hours and sit in with us at my gig in Skurillum (now Schmidt's Theatre) at Spielbuden Platz 24 on Reeperbahn. Sometime after HAIR gig was over (and they took my drummer Uwe Petersen with them), Oliver invited me to guest with his fine ensemble "OLIVER GROENEWALD NEWNET" on some great arrangements he wrote of my tunes in KAISERKELLER DETMOLD where they played every week for a long time.
